Is your relative on St Clement War Memorial?

You may have read in the West Briton about a suggestion that the Parish War Memorial by Julian Foye should be moved to somewhere more accessible for people wishing to pay their respects.  What do you think? Please tell us.

Private Cecil SPRY. Corn 1890, died of wounds, 13 April 1918. Son of Edward and Philippa Jane Spry, born at Probus, lived Tregarra.

Lance Corporal William WALLIS Born 1894, died 14 June 1916. Son of AH Wallis of Buckshead, St Clement.

Private Percy Gluyas TRELOAR Born 1892, died 29 September 1916. Son of Thomas and Janie N Treloar of Sea View, Treskillard, Redruth.

Lieutenant Colonel Trevor CARUS-WILSON Born 1870, died of wounds, 27 March 1918. Son of Edward Shippard and Ellen Anne (Nee Willyams) Carus-Wilson of Penmount. Spouse, Dorothy Sellina (Nee Carter) Carus-Wilson.

No waiting list for Tresillian Allotments!

There are still a small number of vacancies on the Parish Council’s new allotment site in Tresillian. Most of the plots are 5m x 10m and cost £35.50 a year to rent. There is parking and water on site, and a communal shed.

Allotments are provided to enable local residents to grow fresh food for themselves, while getting fresh air and exercise in the company of friendly, fellow gardening enthusiasts.

The site is managed by the Parish Council with the help of the Tresillian Allotment Association.

If you live in postcode areas TR1, TR2 or TR4, you may be eligible to apply. Contact the Clerk for further details.

October 2017 meeting

The October meeting of St Clement Parish Council will take place on Wednesday 25th October 2017 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall in St Clement Village. There is a public participation session at the start of the meeting to enable residents to comment or ask questions about any item on the published agenda. Once the meeting proper has started, members of the public are welcome to stay and observe or to leave quietly at any time. the agenda and minutes will appear below when published.

August 2017 Meeting

The August meeting of St Clement Parish Council has been postponed until Wednesday 6th September because of unforeseen circumstances. The meeting will take place at 7.30pm at the Parish Hall in St Clement Village. There is a public participation session for local electors at the very start of the meeting. Anyone is welcome to stay and observe the meeting proper, although there is no public right to speak once the meeting has started.

July 2017 Meeting

The July meeting of St Clement Parish Council will take place on Wednesday 26th July 2017 at 7.30pm at St Clement Parish Hall. There is a short period (not exceeding 20 minutes) allowed just before the meeting starts for comments and questions from any members of the public present regarding any topic on the published agenda (maximum 3 minutes per speaker). Once the meeting proper has started, anyone is welcome to stay and observe, but there is no public right to speak.

Speedwatch volunteers wanted

The Parish Council is trying to get together a group of volunteers for a Community Speedwatch project in Tresillian. We need at least six volunteers for the project to go ahead.   If we can recruit enough people, we will pass the contact details of volunteers to the police, who will provide training and equipment. If you are concerned about speeding through the village and are able to spare the time to take part, please contact the Parish Clerk.

Wanted – Parish Councillors

Following the recent elections, there are now three vacant seats on St Clement Parish Council. The Parish Council would like to hear from any public-spirited members of the community who have the time and energy to commit to this rewarding but unpaid role. There are no special qualifications required, but knowledge of the local area and an ability to get along with people from all walks of life are useful. If you are interested being co-opted as a Parish Councillor, please contact the Parish Clerk for further details about what is involved and how to apply.
